Speak the Word Boldly: A Study of Acts
God’s great plan of salvation continues to unfold as his Spirit-filled church takes the message of salvation to the ends of the earth. This fall we begin a study of the book of Acts. Its message is missional: The Wind of Grace inspires brave men and women to proclaim that Jesus Christ lived, died, and rose from the dead. God himself gathers people throughout the world and builds his Church. He uses people like you and me.
Beginnings are important! Think of the birth and early years of children or the beginning of a relationship. We soon learn that beginnings and early developments contain clues to the future. The same was true for the Church. Holy Spirit fire birthed the church at Pentecost and the events that followed were both glorious and difficult. In this study, we examine what the early church teaches us about being a follower of Christ today. We look at the role of the Holy Spirit and of Peter and Paul. We look at the process of reconciliation between Jew and Gentile and reaffirm that the Gospel is good news for all people! We imagine ourselves at Pentecost when: “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly” (Acts 4:31). Yes, Lord, we want to speak the word boldly.
Come join us Sunday mornings at 9:15-10:15.
